Farming event recorded presentations now available!

We had a fantastic line up of speakers at our farming innovation event just before easter. Speakers covered a wide range of topics including:

  • the future of farming
  • solar energy options on rural properties
  • digital data management solutions
  • Emissions Trading Scheme possiblities with trees on farms
  • Predator control on farms
  • Farm plans

If you missed the day and would like to take a listen to these presentations, we’ve provided them below. We apologise that the visual filming quality isn’t great, but we were filming from a laptop from an odd angle. Unfortunately we missed recording the presentations by Helen Forsey, TDC and Claire Parke, Castledowns Farms about farm plans.

First up was Steve Harcourt,  AgResearch’s digital technology lead. Steve talked about the future of farming, challenges facing farmers, and the work AgResearch is doing in relation to technology solutions to farming challenges.

Next up was Becks Smith from Solayer who talked about solar energy on farms, providing an inspiring and illuminating talk about her own farm’s journey integrating solar energy, and the financial benefits this can bring.

Paul Ruddenklau from Resolution spoke next about the digital farming app that he has developed to help farmers enter farm information quickly and easily while out on the farm.

Susan Moore-Lavo from Ministry for Primary Industries and Patrick de Jong from Forest Management Group came next talking about possibilities for planting trees and claiming credits under the Emissions Trading Scheme.

Last up we had Nick Sparks from Kūmanu and Gillian Holme talking about predator control on rural land, including tips and tricks to start up trapping, and some emerging technologies to make trapping more efficient and effective.
