Soggy second Old Man’s Beard working bee

Despite the rain, a few hardy, determined souls headed out to Haycocks Bush to tackle some hardcore Old Mans Beard! We were kitted out in our waterproofs & with the relevant equipment distributed we descended into the bush by the river’s edge.

The size of the vines was quite unbelievable, they coiled round and round each other & it was challenging work to find the root to cut & paste. Then we had to make sure that no parts of the cut vine were touching the ground so they couldn’t re root, as OMB has a tendency to do. It was pretty hard going but we had good company & excellent chat to keep us enthused.

After a few hours of OMB destruction, we regrouped & shared sandwiches & snacks under the gazebo, then headed home to get dry & clean, well satisfied with our efforts.

Huge thanks to Bruce Stare & his OMB Group who are inspirational in their weed killing gusto!

The Pest Management Group plans to run another session in 2025 so watch out for the promotion of that event. We want to make it a biggee so we’d love your help to get as much OMB as possible in this area.
