Nau mai haere mai ki te Motueka Catchment Collective

We are a collective of community members who have deep connections, both past and present, with the Motueka awa and connected connected environment. The diversity of natural ecosystems ki uta ki tai (from mountains to sea) sustains our physical, social and cultural wellbeing, and economic prosperity.

We know there are challenges and pressures on the catchment’s health and wellbeing and we wish to look after the health of this special place we call home. We want to be good ancestors leaving a positive legacy to enable future generations to thrive.

Because of this we formed a collective to weave our communities together to build capability, knowledge, and positive actions for the wellbeing and prosperity of the Motueka awa and catchment community now and into the future.

Priority themes for action

We have drawn on community voice to identify what’s important to look after and target our effort in the catchment and we’ve formed groups (called thematic groups) to address these priorities.

The role of thematic groups is to build capacity, run workshops and events, create and share resources, create connections and source funding to support landowners, residents, farmers, growers and sub-catchment groups to take action.
