Help Shape How We Live With and Care for Our Rivers

Across the Motueka catchment, people connect with rivers in all sorts of ways. Some grow food, run farms, and care for land. Others swim in summer, trust the stopbanks to keep them safe, or join in restoration projects. Recent floods reminded us how closely our lives are tied to the rivers.

Our communities are showing real strength — helping after floods and continuing long‑standing efforts. From planting streamsides to restoring wetlands, improving land, and monitoring river health, people young and old are making a difference. Together, we show what’s possible when the whole catchment works together.

The Motueka Catchment Collective (MCC)

The Motueka Catchment Collective (MCC) is here to back that mahi. We’re about practical action — plants in the ground, fencing, and momentum — and about bringing people together to build shared understanding and care for rivers and land collectively.

Have your say on the plan!

We’ve drafted a plan that brings together these efforts — from planting and wetland restoration to land care, river health, and flood resilience — and summarised it in the visual below. You can also see a pdf of it here

It’s a draft, and your input will ensure it reflects what matters most.
