DESCRIPTION:When: Friday\, 21 February\, 10am – 1:30 pm  \nWhere: Tapawera Rugby Club Room\, Main Road\, Tapawera   \nDo you have areas of your land that are prone to erosion? Would you like to discuss and learn practical techniques and methods to reduce soil loss from your farm\, lifestyle property\, or forestry block?   \nMotueka Catchment Collective would like to invite you to this event aimed at helping answer key questions landowners have about ensuring effective control of sediment on their rural property. We have a line-up of excellent speakers who will talk you through some of these key questions\, giving great examples and case studies to help make their advice as practical as possible.   \n  \n  \nQuestions that will be addressed are:  \n\nWhy is sediment control important in the Motueka catchment? \n\n\nWhat are some key research findings that have emerged regarding sediment in the Motueka Catchment? \n\n\nWhat are the current regulations regarding sediment and what tools are available to the community to manage sediment issues? \n\n\nHow is forestry addressing sediment concerns and what are the most commonly used mitigation practices? \n\n\nHow is the agricultural sector addressing sediment issues and what are the most common and effective mitigation practices? \n\nSpeakers include:  \n\nDr. Les Basher\, NZ Landcare Research  \n\n\nDr. Andrew Swales\, Principal Scientist – Coastal and Estuarine Physical Processes\, Programme Leader  – NIWA \n\n\nDr Charlotte Šunde\, Policy Planner\, Natural Resources – Tasman District Council \n\n\nMike Fahey –  Taylors Contracting \n\n\nDr. Tom Mackay – Director – Verdantia Research \n\nOnce speakers have given their presentations\, there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions of a wider panel of speakers and other experts.
