Farm Environment Plans for lifestylers

If you have a lifestyle property that is over 20 hectares you are most likely required to have a Farm Environment Plan for your property. FEP requirements are for 20ha or more of pastoral use, 5 ha or more of horticulture, or 20 ha or more of combined use. This event is a chance to learn what these plans are and have help developing your own Farm Environment Plan.

Here are the topics that will be covered at the event:

Topic Overview Topics
Understanding of how your land affects the environment Water quality overview, erosion, critical sources, soils, impact of animals
Complete a planting and plant management plan for your property and a management plan Weed control, plant layout, planting methods, plant choice, seed collection.
Management practises to mitigate environmental issues Wetlands, riparian strips, bunds, sediment ponds

You will be given a simple template to complete your own Farm Environment Plan. Knowledgeable people, including Tasman District Council staff, will be there to help you put your plan together along with other resources to assist you.

For those of you in the Motueka catchment that complete you plan will be provided with up to 200 free plants.
