Debbie grew up in the Marlborough Sounds. She moved to Dovedale and married a 5th generation farmer. They became a family of 5 all the children went to Dovedale School including her youngest son, who is going to run the farm. Their farm includes 20 hectares of older native forest, which successive generations have treasured and protected. They have retired another 10 hectares to revert to natives. They have always practised pest control, along with pole planting and now planting natives from Dovedale Community Nursery. Debbie feels being in MCC is an extension of her beliefs, and she loves working with many amazing, passionate people to help keep the Motueka catchment beautiful.
