MVA Community BBQ – Last of the Summer Wine

The afternoon of Saturday 28 Feb was warm & sunny & perfect for the inaugural Motueka Valley Association Summer BBQ, held at the Ngātīmotī Community Room (Fire Station) & outdoor BBQ area.

Zambuko Marimba played uplifting music full of sunshine as attendees arrived, bringing plates to share as well as their garden & orchard surplus, until the tables were groaning with locally grown & made goodness!

There were many animated conversations amongst the crowd with all ages represented plus dancing, games and a hilarious quiz with prizes for all! There were about 30 attendees & we all ate & drank very well plus had produce to take home.

Pat, the Chair of the MVA, was delighted with the event. He said that the Committee had no idea whether the event was going to work or how many would come. Given the success of the Winter gathering they felt that this might be something the community would enjoy & will definitely keep the Summer BBQ as a feature of their calendar going forward.

Big thanks to the MVA for organising such an enjoyable community event, thanks to Pat for the quiz & Zambuko Marimba for the wonderful music.
