Saturday, 11 April, 2026 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

For anyone starting a forest restoration project or already underway. Join us for a practical session to understand how a native forest develops over time and what supports long‑term success.

Hear from restoration specialist Wayne O’Keefe as we walk through a mature forest remnant and newer plantings with kaitiaki of Lancewood Villa, Fiona and Alastair. We’ll explore:

  • what success looks like in native forest restoration
  • how ecological succession works and factors shaping forest development
  • the role of shade in restoration plantings
  • when intervention may be needed, including creating lightwells and choosing appropriate species
