Who is it workshop for?
Anyone new to learning about native plants, and for those wanting to broaden existing knowledge. This is a group learning environment where everyone is encouraged to bring and share what they know. Meet with other locals keen on native biodiversity.
Wayne moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2001 and quickly developed a deep passion for its unique biodiversity. He established his business, Indigenous Landscape, working in the community conservation space alongside local groups, iwi, and landowners to help achieve their conservation goals.
Through this work, Wayne has built a broad understanding of coastal and forest ecology and the challenges of caring for these environments. A self-confessed native plant geek, he has particular expertise in native forest establishment.
Wayne has provided services to councils and the DOC, and has held roles with organisations including the QEII National Trust, Whakatāne Kiwi Trust, Trees That Count, and he managed a landscape-scale project aimed at reconnecting isolated populations of North Island kōkako in the Bay of Plenty.
Wayne is also a Trustee of Tāne’s Tree Trust, a charity dedicated to advocating for and promoting the use of indigenous tree species across Aotearoa.
